Privacy and Data

Updated February 26, 2026

Unfair is built for on-device data storage and does not depend on cloud profile storage for core supplement workflows.

Local storage model

Profile, plan, reminder, streak, and recommendation bundle state are persisted with iOS Data on your device.

Dose journal events are also saved locally, which preserves your timeline even when external writes fail.

Experiment Data Sharing option

Experiment Data Sharing is optional and off by default.

If you enable it, Unfair uploads anonymized experiment snapshots for aggregate supplement research and inference quality scoring.

Sharing can be turned off at any time in app settings.

When sharing is turned off, Unfair stops future uploads, rotates your anonymous sharing ID, and clears unsent share queue items.

What we share and what we do not share

When sharing is on, payloads can include experiment phase structure, outcome values, dose and check-in timing quality, and Apple Health trend context used for experiment interpretation.

Unfair does not include direct identifiers such as name, email, profile photo, or exact birth date in the share payload.

HealthKit integration boundaries

When allowed, Unfair reads HealthKit context and writes supported supplement dose records.

HealthKit permissions can be changed at any time in iOS settings.

Privacy statements shown in app

Onboarding states that your data is stored on device, your usage is not tracked, and your profile is not shared with the team.

It also states that notification channels are not used for marketing.

What to do before sharing screenshots

Remove personal data, timestamps, and medication details before sending support screenshots.

For permission debugging, include only the relevant Health app category state and app version.
